My heart goes out to the passengers and families of Continental 3407 on the First Anniversary of a horrific airline disaster. A disaster that could be avoided with experienced Pilots. I am overcome with sadness today remembering the events. My deepest sympathy...Denise Lockie Flight 1549 Survivor

I am so sorry for your loss, and want to thank you for standing up to the "understood status quo" when it comes to pilot fatigue & the airlines placing greater value on the dollar than human life; things get the way they are due to slow desensitization - my heart breaks for you all and I pray God will bless your efforts to wake up the ones who can do something about it. Facebook is a very effective site to spread this message, do you have a site there I can link to or become a "fan" of?

Thank you for your efforts to increase pilot training. I travel alot for my job and am always amazed at the number of customers traveling every day, and I feel it is absolutely necessary to have pilots who can receive proper training. I hope to join you in your efforts to make this happen! God Bless you and all families affected by this tragedy.

Robin, Jennifer, and your other flight 3407 family members and friends, my heart still has not healed for the wonderful perople on that flight. There is hardly a day that goes by that I dont remember Darren, Ernie, Jerry and Steve. I will wear red tomorrow, I will turn my porch lights on and I will walk the memorial walk in memory of my 4 co-workers. I have sent my letters to the senators and the president as you suggested. I cannot imagine your hurt. I thank you for your endeavors for flight safety. I am banning flying because I cannot feel safe any longer - knowing what I know now because of your efforts in your fight for airline safety. Until then, I pray for you and yours from the bottom of my heart. Rest in peace, Darren, Jerry, Ernie & Steve!

To the families, I have thought of you every day for a year. I am humbled, proud of and grateful for your commitment to us. I wrote the following letter to the Syracuse newspaper and hope that it will be printed, and I hope you know how very sorry so many people are for your loss. Sincerely, Jeff Kotas To the Editor: Flight 3407 from Newark to Buffalo crashed one year ago, taking the lives of all 49 people on board plus one person on the ground. The victims included Dawn Monachino and Jennifer Neill, and Jennifer’s unborn son. Jen and Dawn were traveling home from a business meeting I hosted in Newark. They were both bright young women on top of their game, and both spent the last two days of their lives among a small group of colleagues who had become very close friends. I sent them off on a shuttle to the airport knowing they were safe, but as we all know, nobody on that plane or on the ground under its path was safe. Despite intense efforts by the victims’ families not enough has been done to make us safer. The crash of Flight 3407 was no accident. It reveals a deep systemic failure, and under the status-quo it is likely to happen again. The families of flight 3407 need your help to change the status-quo. They want to cut the odds that this will happen again, but they need our help to do it. Please visit www.3407memorial.com today to find out more. I will close with a quote from the site: “None of us wish for another family to go through the pain and suffering we have been through and we are doing everything in our power to promote positive change in the aviation industryâ€Â. Please take a minute or two to visit the site as we remember that terrible day. And, thank you to the families whose strength and character inspire us as they fight this battle on our behalf. How anxious we were, the minute the flight was mentioned on the screen, we could not wait to see him. Every second that passed we felt more and more anxious. The moment we over heard what had happened, we did not want to believe. A part of us died that day, and even though we cannot compare your loss to ours, but we can surely say we are feeling what you might be.... we will alway be there for you. May the Lord give the departed soul eternal peace and may he give you all the courage to go on....Amen! Our prayers and love for you will alway be there..

Sending my thoughts and strength to you. I hope that something can be done to change the culture of financial influence in Washington. It is sad that the government has failed to provide adequate oversight with regard to these airlines. I wish you well in your efforts to improve airline safety and am sorry you have suffered such profound loss. You honor those you lost through your work.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I work for a different airline that had to deal with a similar crash a few years ago. I keep hearing th pilots say that we need to change the work rules for fatigue but what we MUST do is STOP allowing pilots to commute to work like the FO did in the Colgan crash. The pilots never want to talk about fatigue when it comes to commuting but I know MANY like the COlgan FO who will commute all night to get to their base. Make airline REQUIRE their employees/pilots to have their domicile in their base. Pilots are responsible for their own controlled fatigue as well.
