Buffalo, New York- June 15, 2009 - Scott Maurer of Moore, South Carolina, who lost his thirty year old daughter Lorin on Continental Flight 3407 , has been invited to testify in front of the Senate Aviation Subcommittee at its hearing this week. The hearing, to be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 17th in Room 253 of the Russell Senate Office Building, will focus on 'Aviation Safety: The Role and Responsibility of Commercial Air Carriers and Employees.'

"I really want to thank my home state senator, Jim DeMint, the Ranking Member, and Senator Dorgan, the subcommittee chairman, for their invitation to speak in the memory of my daughter, Lorin", stated Maurer. "Our family group feels that the issues that need to be addressed are out there in the open; now what we need is action. We must remain vigilant to ensure that the aviation industry does not give us some lip service now, only to return to their short-cutting ways in a few months when they hope this uproar has died down."

The Senate hearing will the third of three congressional hearings focusing on aviation safety concerns, and the leadership of the Aviation subcommittees in both Houses are expected to pursue legislation to address some of these issues in the upcoming weeks.
