The Senate Aviation Subcommittee will be holding a hearing on the National Transportation Safety Board’s Reauthorization on Thursday, October 29th. In the aftermath of yet another pilot-related aviation incident, members of the ‘Families of Continental Flight 3407’ will be present at the hearing to continue their push for higher pilot qualification standards, and for the passage of the FAA Reauthorization Act and its numerous safety provisions by the Senate.

Members of the group will be available for comment immediately after the hearing, at approximately 11:45 am, outside of Room 253 Russell Senate Office Building. In the words of group member Karen Eckert, who lost her sister Beverly in the crash, ‘This incident with Northwest Flight 188 is just another example that all is not as well and good with aviation safety in our country as the industry would have people believe. It is time for the Senate to step up and do its part to address this situation before our tragedy is allowed to repeat itself.”
