“Miracle on the Hudson” Co-Pilot Jeff Skiles, Congressman Chris Lee and City of Buffalo Join In Support

The ‘Families of Continental Flight 3407’, “Miracle on the Hudson” Co-Pilot Jeff Skiles, Congressman Chris Lee and the City of Buffalo will re-unite and “Walk to Complete the Journey” to commemorate the one year anniversary in honor of their loved ones on Friday, February 12 at 9:30am, Clarence, NY, followed by a press conference at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, Limousine Lot at 2:30pm. The 3407 families will “Walk to Finish the Journey” of the 51 souls lost and march 10 miles, mapping a route from the site of the crash to the Buffalo International Airport where Continental Flight 3407 was expected to land safely. The public is invited to walk the route in 1 of 3 legs: 10 miles starting at Long St (Clarence Center, NY), 4.2 miles starting at West Herr (8129 Main Street, Clarence) or 1 mile starting at the Holiday Inn (4600 Genesee Street, Cheektowaga). There will be rest stops along the way at Clarence Town Hall, Arthur’s Coffee, Harris Hill Fire Hall, Quaker Steak and Lube, and Dunkin Donuts. In addition, “We Support 3407 Families’ Fight for Aviation Safety. Remembering Those Lost February 12, 2009” posters will be distributed for free at all Tops Friendly Markets locations. Aviation safety is the mission of the 3407 family group and the support of the community brings us one step closer in ensuring that this accident never repeats itself. Upon arrival to the airport, walkers will gather to the tents and have a moment of remembrance. Salvatore’s Italian Gardens will be providing tents and refreshments at the airport for the attendees.
